2014 saw a noted increase of quality from the country music mainstream.  Country music is nothing without great songs; songs that touch our hearts, make us laugh and cry, make us feel something.  It is very refreshing to be able to turn on country radio and actually hear some decent, heartfelt music.  We still have a long way to go, but baby steps are important.  These 10 songs come from mainstream country, independent artists, bluegrass artists, and everything in between.  Here are the 10 Best Songs of 2014.

Jake London "Runaway Heart" Album Review

Jake London's recent single "Somewhere Down The Road" is one of my favorite songs of the year.  Its blend of many different styles struck a chord with me and created the perfect genre-blending hit.  I claimed in my review that if the song was a preview of the full album, the album would be one of the best of the year.  Well, it was and Runaway Heart is a knockout from start to finish.

Jake London "Somewhere Down The Road" Single Review

Jake London is a singer/songwriter from California by way of Oregon who is making his name heard.  His debut single "Somewhere Down The Road" has recently been released.  This folk/rock/Americana/Country mash up is hard to pin down, tough to categorize, but oh so easy to listen to.  This is a very good song no matter where your musical tastes lie.
