Alan Jackson "Angels & Alcohol" Album Review

At this point, Alan Jackson needs no introduction.  The man is a living legend in country music.  He has proved over and over that traditional country can be cool and can be relevant.  After dabbling in bluegrass for his last album, Alan is back in the country format for his latest release, Angels & Alcohol.  A review of this album is hardly necessary.  It is Alan Jackson.  He doesn't know how to make bad music.  But, I will still share some thoughts on this new album, which fits right in the Alan Jackson discography as a solid and entertaining group of tunes.

Haters, Evolution, and Chinese Food

This is what Hank thinks of your silly arguments

With the latest albums by Jason Aldean, Chase Rice, and Florida-Georgia Line drawing heavy amounts of criticism despite topping the charts, the bro-country supporters have been out in full blast, defending their music ad nauseam. They make claims of “evolution” and “if you don’t like it, don’t listen to it” and of course, the “country music doesn’t have to just be about lost dogs, lost wives, and broken-down trucks” argument. If you dare to share your opinion on the music, you get called a bully, an old man, or “close-minded”. There are so many accusations and proclamations with absolutely no truth and value in them that it can be very frustrating to even talk to these people. So, I’ve decided to deconstruct all of the tired, old arguments that the bro-country defenders drag in one all-encompassing post: Haters, Evolution, and Chinese Food.

The Top 10: Alan Jackson

Alan Jackson has been a stalwart of country music since 1989.  Alan found a way to mix the traditions of yesterday with modern elements to create a sound in the mid to late 90's that sold millions of records and kept traditionalists happy.  Alan is a living legend, and narrowing down his career to 10 songs was a daunting task, but here goes my best shot at it.

10 Best Albums of 2013

Writing a great song is a work of art, but creating an entire album of great songs is a much tougher task.  2013 saw its fair share of great albums from many of country's biggest stars and hottest up and comers.  As a new website, I only included 5 albums last year.  This year, the list has been extended to 10.  In all honesty, it could have been many more.  Without further ado, here are the Keep It Country Kids Top 10 Albums of the Year.

Alan Jackson "The Bluegrass Album" Album Review

When Alan Jackson releases an album, you know it will be a gem.  He is a living legend who needs no introduction.  As radio airplay seems to have left him by the wayside, Alan has no plans to hang up his cowboy hat and rest on his laurels.  Alan is still making fantastic country music, but now without the confines of pushing for radio success.  The result is a concept album that ranks right up with the best releases of 2013 so far.
